Life, Well Run is an ICMA (International City/County Management Association) initiative to raise awareness of and appreciation for the value professional managers bring to building ethical, efficient, effective local government and great communities we’re proud to call home.

Perhaps because managers are so good at what they do and shun the limelight, the majority of our citizens are unaware the position even exists!

Yet, as the federal and many state governments continue to face a fiscal crisis and deep political divisions, our quality of life increasingly depends on effective local government and the creative, steady, and ethical skills of professional local government managers.

At the same time, as the profession enters its second 100 years, many senior managers are retiring, creating an urgent need to attract talented young people to the profession.

Life, Well Run is a campaign to

  • raise awareness of and appreciation for the value professional local
government managers bring to building communities people are proud to call home, and
  • inspire a new generation to become professional local government managers.
